Realtors help support local housing efforts
The Fort Collins Board of Realtors has donated $10,750 to four grant recipients using funds collected by the Colorado Association of Realtors Housing Opportunity Foundation, or CARHOF.
Grant recipients were: Fort Collins Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Charities, the Home-less Prevention Initiative and Neighbor to Neighbor. All recipients received between $2,500 and $3,000.
"We so value CARHOF's support because we realize Realtors know the value of a stable home," said Sue-Beth Ferkiss, executive director of Homelessness Prevention Initiative. "This grant will be used to provide low- and moderate-income households with rental assistance as a reward for improving their financial literacy."
Since its inception, CARHOF has donated more than $7.3 million. CARHOF generates revenue from interest earned on earnest money deposits and donations from Realtors and others in the real estate industry.
