2012 FCBR Events Focused on Networking Success

By: Kathleen Hollerbach Events Committee Chair

2012 is shaping up to be a busy year for REALTORS® and Affiliates in Northern Colorado. This year we are going through a transition in FCBR Events Committee leadership and we, on the committee, are sad to lose our fearless leader, Scott Beasley. Scott has served brilliantly as the Chairperson of the Events Committee for the last three years and feels like it’s just time to bring in a fresh perspective. I am honored and humbled to be chosen to be the new Chairperson of the FCBR Events Committee and I now have some very big shoes to fill. But I think we might be able to persuade Brandon Buffoony to stay on in some capacity?!

Let me introduce myself, in case you haven’t met me yet. My name is Kathleen Hollerbach and I am in my rookie year as Associate Broker/Partner with The Group (Harmony office). I moved to Fort Collins in 2008, from Sarasota, Florida. (Yes…it IS a big change from Florida! But a much welcome change for me and my family.) I have already done quite a bit of event planning and fundraising, spent many hours volunteering in Florida and in Fort Collins and have a background in new construction. I was co-owner, Vice President and office manager of Hollerbach Construction, a custom home construction company in the Sarasota area. As soon as I received my Real Estate license, last year, I looked for opportunities to jump into serving FCBR with both feet and was lucky enough to land on the Events Committee!
As a committee, we have sat down together and planned out what is turning out to be a fresh and fun year of events for 2012. Some of the events we have coming up this year include a little shuffling and re-arranging of dates and venues. For instance, this year we started using the MacKenzie Place Lodge, as well as Club Tico, for our monthly membership meetings. This beautiful facility allows us to now have both a north and a south Fort Collins location for our events.
The FCBR Installation location, date and time are still in the planning stages. We are working with our acting President, Jeffrey Martin, to plan and put on a fun party to celebrate the Installation of the new Board members for 2013! Watch the FCBR website and upcoming BoardTalk issues for more information, as we get closer to September.

For October, I am working with CSU to see if we can have our annual Homecoming Luncheon actually on the CSU campus, instead of out at the Ram Room at Hughes Stadium. We have a few possibilities for sites directly on campus and hope to make this a great way to incorporate some CSU history and provide a dynamic speaker to get everyone charged up for Homecoming! Parking is our biggest concern, but where there is a will, there is a way!
Along with the rest of the monthly luncheons and fun annual events that the Board hosts (Bowl-A-Thon, Golf Tourney, Community Affairs Event, etc), we have also decided to move the date of the annual FCBR Holiday Awards Event from December to mid November, so that we don’t conflict with the myriad of other holiday parties and events that are typically held in December. This was a “headslap” moment for the committee, when we were finally able to figure out how to make it more convenient for our membership to attend the FCBR Holiday Awards Event and still be able to attend all of the other holiday events that are usually held that time of year. We think you’ll like this change!

To round out our year, we will be having an open house in December to celebrate the holidays and give us a chance to get together, informally, to ring in the New Year!

We, on the FCBR Events Committee, hope that you enjoy and look forward to our upcoming events for the year. We are excited about what’s coming up and hope that you are, too!
